Pix Aid

Welcome to Pix-Aid
Pix-aid is a network of engaged journalists reporting on humanitarian aid projects funded by subscribers... a direct feed-back connecting donors with the projects and the people their money is aiding.

Most people are generous and want to help those less fortunate. But, how do you know your money really gets to the people you want to help? And once you give to an organization, do you never hear from them until the next brochure in the mail asking for more money? And all that paper and postage... can’t be good for the environment, not to say anything about the money spent, your money, which could go to helping people!

Pix-aid is a small aid organization founded by journalists specialized in humanitarian aid reporting.  After years of working with numerous organizations, we found that many people were frustrated with giving for two main reasons. One, they are never sure where their money actually goes or are hesitant because they fear a good part of it is spent on administration or other costs. Secondly, they never feel connected to the project and never hear from the organization except when they want more money. Pix-Aid works with small NGOs, people to people help with no big offices or PR departments, with local journalists reporting on local projects of concerned citizens. Pix-Aid is your connection to these small, efficient organizations which need our help.

Helping people help themselves. Pix-Aid doesn’t try to raise money through pity. Aid is a partnership. Through Pix-Aid you can watch your project grow. You can meet the people you help. You can learn from them and about their way of life from journalists and photographers who live there. You can see the daily effect of your generosity and watch your money make a difference!

From every contribution, ten percent goes to hire a local journalist (you’re giving him or her gainful employment as well!) to supply regular updates on the project and keep you informed. Local journalists write about their customs, festivals and lifestyle. There are also articles on broader issues concerning the projects and links to other sources of information on humanitarian or development issues.

Just have a look at the list of projects (we will start out small and find other worthy projects as funds increase). Come back as often as you like to watch your contributions change lives. Please feel free to send in comments or questions and our journalists will be happy to inquire and find answers.
